They help the IEP team understand your child’s strengths, challenges, and learning needs so they can make informed decisions about services and supports.

An evaluation may include information about your child’s academic skills, communication, behavior, social-emotional development, or other areas related to their educational success. No single test tells the whole story. Instead, the team looks at multiple sources of information to gain a complete picture of your child.

As a parent, you have the right to ask questions and receive explanations you understand. If something in the evaluation is confusing, don’t hesitate to ask for clarification.

Remember: An evaluation is not about labeling your child. It’s about understanding how your child learns so the IEP team can develop a plan that supports their success.

💙 My Promise to You

I will help you understand evaluation results in clear, practical language so you can participate confidently in IEP discussions and make informed decisions for your child.

🌟 Before You Go…

Ask yourself:

✔️ Do I understand what the evaluation says about my child’s strengths?

✔️ What questions do I have about the recommendations?

✔️ How will these results help shape my child’s IEP?

Remember: Evaluations provide valuable information, but they don’t define your child’s potential.
